UNCONSTITUTIONAL HEALTH TAKEOVER!
Tonight, the United States House of Representatives broke faith with the American People and the United States Constitution by passing a bill designed to takeover your health care. This was done for the express purpose of solidifying political power, and little else.
Like you, I’m afraid for my nation. Also, like you, I’m ANGRY! How dare these socialists! There is no Constitutional authority for this bill. Our founders designed a government expressly purposed to ensure that such intrusions on your liberty and freedoms are not allowed.
The House Leadership promised that you would be able to see the final bill for 72-hrs. They did not honor that promise. The final bill was almost 2,000 pages and designed to be a “document dump” to hide details of the bill and make the entire bill all but unreadable. On purpose. Your input and insight into this bill was repeatedly thwarted. On purpose. The Leadership of the House of Representatives has treated YOU as if YOU were the opposition.
UNCONSTITUTIONAL!
I congratulate Congressman Chet Edwards for FINALLY listening to his constituents and voting against this un-Constitutional monstrosity. I do wonder why he waited until the last day to decide that his political career would be better suited by listening to you. We knew long ago that this bill was an un-Constitutional assault on our freedoms. As an experienced leader in the House, Chet Edwards could have used his position to sway his colleagues. Instead, it appears that he used his tenure to secure from the House Leadership and Nancy Pelosi a pass. Again.
Congressman Edwards voted against recommitting this bill. In effect, he voted in favor to clear the hurdles for this bill to receive its final vote. He voted for it to come to a final vote before voting no on that final vote (and then only after the leadership knew they had enough votes to pass it). He voted for it before he voted against it.
I must note that Chet Edwards voted against the Stupak Amendment that would “ban” abortions in this bill (although, how can you trust anything in this bill). In this vote, Congressman Edwards remained consistent with his pro-abortion record that runs counter to the values of this district.
This vote confirms one on my key points for the current election cycle. Chet Edwards is worried about his seat. He’s worried enough to use his clout and position to secure a pass from the leadership on this vote. What he’s worried about is Y-O-U. He should be. He votes with Nancy Pelosi and her liberal leadership 97% of the time and only votes your values when he knows that you are paying attention. It’s time for a Congressman that will vote your values because your values deserve to be Represented in Washington. Together, we can break Chet Edwards’ grasp on this seat in 2010. In the meantime, we can bend him on key votes. Keep him worried. Keep calling his office.
Pray for America tonight.
And then, work to take Her back like never before. Join us in restoring Constitutionally Conservative governance to America.
