Candidate Calls Nationwide Elections Historic and a Referendum on Conservatism

COLLEGE STATION, TX, November 3, 2009:  Timothy Delasandro, The Conservative Candidate in the Republican Primary race for Texas Congressional District 17, congratulated Doug Hoffman, The Conservative Candidate in New York District 23, on his historic race today. Delasandro also extends his congratulations to his fellow Conservative Candidates in Virginia: Bob McDonnell, Governor; Bill Bolling, Lieutenant Governor; and Ken Cuccinelli, Attorney General. The election of Chris Christie for New Jersey’s governor is also a step in the right direction, removing a very Liberal governor and former senator. Countless other conservative wins in state and local elections across the country have paved the way for a resurgent Conservatiove movement across America.

Delasandro has billed himself as “The Conservative Candidate” and encouraged voters that “if you can find a more conservative candidate, vote for them.” Since he began his congressional bid in February, Delasandro has branded his campaign with “The Conservative Candidate” as his message in print, online, and in his speeches across the district. Delasandro has pulled other Texas District 17 campaigns to the right with his conservative message, forcing other candidates to begin using, in the last sixty days, a message that attempts to indicate some conservative leanings. Such catch-phrases as “a conservative” and “the proven conservative” have filtered out from other campaigns as they seek to reach the citizens who have flocked to Timothy Delasandro and his simple message that “Conservatism works every time it is tried.” Today, across the country, that message has been delivered across the country and straight to the White House with a strong voice.

Returning from a Johnson County event late Tuesday, Delasandro said, “Doug Hoffman represents Conservatism exactly the way I represent Conservatism: Unapologetically and honestly. We do not waffle or flip-flop – we simply follow the Conservative Principles and Values that have made this country the greatest nation on the planet. It is time to take back our country and restore our Constitution and economy with the responsibilities our citizens entrust to us. Tonight we see a sea change in the political landscape of America, with Doug Hoffman’s showing and the election of Republicans in the Virginia Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and Attorney General races and other races across the country. When the Liberal Democrats hold court over Congress and the White House, such voter response in less than a year is unprecedented. This is Americans putting the Liberal Democrats on notice that we Conservatives are standing up and not taking it anymore.”

Delasandro continued, “I have been saying since I began this campaign in February that District 17 will have a referendum on Conservatism, and this primary race is exactly that. When voters elect me in March to face one of the most liberal incumbents in Congress, they will be stating firmly and with authority that Conservatism is what Texas District 17 wants. Anything less is unacceptable to the voters.”

Delasandro concluded, “Today’s historic wins for Conservatives is Chet Edwards’ eviction notice. He has one year to find another home besides Washington, D.C.”
