Position: Second Amendment

Despite his claims to the contrary, Chet Edwards has an inconsistent track record when it comes to the right to bear arms. Since he was redistricted into a more conservative district, OUR district, he has amazingly “seen the light” when it comes to our Constitutional rights. It is a conversion based on political convenience.

It’s not enough.

The White House has already brought up gun control this year but has been silenced by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Why? Democrats credit Clinton’s gun control policies with costing them control of the House in 1994. The current House leadership is afraid that a new round of gun control could cost them control of the House in 2010.

They would prefer to wait until AFTER you vote in 2010 to restrict your 2nd Amendment rights. It’s on their agenda, but one bite at a time. We can no longer afford “one bite at a time” when it comes to our Constitutional Rights.

No matters his current position on the right to bear arms, we cannot afford to allow Chet Edwards to support the leadership that will bring up gun control, again and again. If that leadership is to be stopped, Chet Edwards must be defeated. Unfortunately, Edwards has a habit of saying he supports one thing while supporting leaders that undermine that very position. Because of that leadership in Washington, we cannot afford to take any chance when it comes to OUR rights. To protect our right to bear arms, we must defeat Chet Edwards.

I support the right to bear arms, free from government interference. Period. I oppose any attempt to track or keep records on firearms or ammunition.
